- 월남 이상재와 경재 김인전 -
월남은 개화파 박정양을 도우며 민족운동가로 성장할 수 있었다. 그리고 독립협회 활동과 관련된 2년 여의 옥중 생활 가운데 그의 기독교 개종이 이 루어졌다. 그런데 월남의 개종은 고향 사람들에게도 영향을 미쳤다. 먼저 월 남은 월남은 1904년 봄 출옥 후 고향에서 올라온 김규배를 만나 예수의 도 리를 전했고, 김규배는 즉시 기독교를 수용하였다. 또한 김규배는 자신의 집안에도 예수의 도리를 전했다. 그리하여 아들인 경재가 예수를 믿게 되었고, 그의 가문은 곧 서천 지역 최고의 기독교 가문 으로 성장했다. 경재는 1906년 자신의 향리인 와초리에 초-중등과정의 한영 학교를 세워 운영하였다. 그후 경재는 영명학교 교사와 평양신학교를 거쳐 1914년 전주서문교회 목사가 되었다. 군산3.1운동의 정신적 배후였던 그는, 다시 전주3.1운동의 실질적인 주도자였다. 그의 설교와 인품과 민족정신에 매료된 교인들과 청년들에 의해 전주에서의 만세시위가 절정에 이를 수 있 었다. 상해로 망명하여 임시정부 요인으로서 겨레를 위해 고군분투했던 그 는 바로 그 독립의 현장에서 장렬히 순국하였다.
Wolnam Lee Sang-Jae and Gyeongjae Kim In-Jeon
Wolnam Lee Sang-jae was able to grow into a nationalist activist, assisting Park Jeong-yang in the Enlightenment Group. After about two years in prison for his activities in the Independence Association, he converted to Christianity. His conversion had impacts on people in his hometown. Following his discharge from prison in 1904, he met Kim Gyu-bae from his hometown and spread the stories about Jesus's duties to him, who immediately accepted Christianity. Kim Gyu-bae spread the stories to his family members. His son Gyeongjae Kim In-jeon got to believe in Jesus. Soon his family grew into the greatest Christian family in the Seocheon area. Gyeongjae set up and managed Hanyeong School offering primary and secondary courses in his hometown Wacho-ri in 1906. After teaching at Yeongmyeong School, he studied at a theological school in Pyeongyang and became a minister at Seomun Church in Jeonju in 1914. He was the spiritual power of the March 1 Movement in Gunsan and practically led the March 1 Movement in Jeonju. The Manse Demonstrations were able to reach a zenith in Jeonju thanks to the Christian believers and youths fascinated by his sermons, character, and national spirit. After seeking asylum in Shanghai, he fought hard for the nation as a key figure of the provisional government and died for the country bravely at the site of its independence.
