- 이사야 56장 1～8절 이방인에 관한 연구 -

A Study on the Gentiles in Isaiah 56:1-8
This study focuses on the Gentiles in the text of Isaiah 56:1～8. Through a study of the scripture that describes the ideals of the temple and Israel community to be restored, and the Hebrew word nokri, which means foreigners, the researcher seeks an understanding of the Gentiles in the text and reveals the universalism of Isaiah 56:1～8. The text stated that Gentiles who have accepted the faith of Yahweh by keeping the Sabbath and the covenant could be accepted into the community. The researcher first introduces the research of scholars on Gentiles in Old Testament. Gentiles are expressed in the Bible by the words ger and nokri. Ger refers to sojourners who are mostly people in need of welfare and who receive state protection and judicial benefits. On the other hand, nokri refers to foreigners who has the potential to negatively affect them around Israel. the researcher analyzes the interpretations of major scholars who focus on the Gentiles in the text of Isaiah 56:1～8. According to research by scholars, the scripture described Yahweh's acceptance of the Gentiles who seeking to be incorporated into the Israel covenant community. The researcher argues that the text of Isaiah 56:1～8 paradoxically emphasizes the universalism of the Old Testament through Yahweh's acceptance of Nokri which means foreigners who have the potential to negatively affect to Israel.
